Boutique Beach: New Maldives Hotel in Whale Shark Region
UK-based diving specialist Regaldive has announced that it now features Boutique Beach Hotel, Dhigurah Island, a new Maldives all-inclusive diving hotel. Opened in May 2015, this British designed and managed boutique style hotel was built alongside a dive base.
With a location in the southern part of Ari Atoll, Dhigurah Island is ideally placed within the famous whale shark region where these beautiful creatures can be seen all year round. The experienced, local dive team is talented at knowing where to find whale sharks, so visitors to Boutique Beach can enjoy going out on dives and also whale shark safaris to encounter these amazing creatures which can grow up 40 feet long. The largest fish on the planet, whale sharks can live for up to 80 years.
The founder of Boutique Beach is British diver Romney Drury, who has been diving in the Maldives since 1996. Ms Drury discovered that the south part of the Ari Atoll was very special since it was the only place in the Maldives where whale sharks and mantas could be seen all year round. Divers can also visit the 15 ‘thilas’ (deep reefs) in the channel between Dhigurah and Dhangethi which offer spectacular hard and soft corals and a huge variety of marine life.
After diving worldwide and experiencing many dive safaris, Ms Drury decided that Dhigurah was a dive location which no diver should miss, so she decided to build a boutique style hotel there, alongside a dive base, so that other divers could enjoy this unmissable diving location. Custom designed by divers for divers, with only six rooms, Boutique Beach Hotel aims to deliver the best diving experience possible. Visitors can experience the ‘real’ Maldives on this local island with just 600 inhabitants.
Divers can explore the wonders of Dhigurah with a seven night stay at Boutique Beach Hotel from £1,579 per person when travelling with Regaldive. The package includes return flights (Emirates), speedboat transfers, full board accommodation (three meals a day) and 12 boat dives.
