Divesoft divers develop the World’s First Standards for a Bailout CCR Course
With the announcement of the World’s First Standards for a Bailout Rebreather Diving Course, the Divesoft Team continues to show themselves at the forefront of scuba tech diving gear worldwide.
To ensure safety during longer dives, divers need to take extra measures and precautions. For instance, in the case of a catastrophic rebreather failure such as a broken scrubber, divers need to use back-up gas and bailout to an open circuit. This is not ideal, however, considering the number of bottles the diver needs to carry for such emergencies. To prevent this, recently, the consensus has been to use a bailout rebreather instead.
It’s not an easy feat using a bailout rebreather which is why Liberty Sidemount Instructor, Matthew Jevon, and Divesoft Factory Trainer, Jakub Šimánek, jumped on the opportunity to develop standards for a bailout rebreather diving course and their work was then adopted and used by TDI (Technical Diving International) for the bailout CCR course. Becoming the first bailout CCR instructors was a great achievement for Matt and Jakub and their efforts haven’t ceased. The pair continues to create instructional materials and improve the course to cater towards future students’ needs ensuring it is as useful as possible. The pilot training is currently in progress and will be available soon.
Matt Jevon is an accomplished diver, a Full Expedition Level Trimix and Cave Instructor on OC and CCR, including Divesoft Liberty Sidemount Instructor. Additionally, he has been accredited as an interdisciplinary sports scientist and sports psychologist; you can visit his Facebook page “Psychological Skills for Diving” here.
Jakub Šimánek is a long-time Divesoft member (since 2012) who works on the development of diving computers and the CCR Liberty rebreather. He trains students from all over the world and in 2015, cooperated on a 4-year-long project with the Police as a diving instructor trainer, establishing the rebreather qualifications of police officers.
