Thomson and First Choice confirm flight cancellations to Sharm until April 2017
Statement from Thomson and First Choice:
As the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) continues to advise against all but essential travel by air to or from Sharm el-Sheikh, Thomson and First Choice can confirm the cancellation of a number of further flights for holidays booked up to and including Sunday 30th April 2017.
However, to meet limited customer demand and to enable Thomson Airways to continue flying to Sharm el-Sheikh, should the FCO travel advice change, a reduced number of flights remain unchanged and are currently scheduled to depart from 29thSeptember 2016.
In addition, Thomson and First Choice can confirm the cancellation of all flights to Luxor up to and including Tuesday 31stOctober 2017.
The current situation in Egypt is under constant review, and all customers affected by this change will be contacted directly and offered the opportunity to amend to any Thomson or First Choice holiday currently on sale or, alternatively, cancel and receive a full refund. A £30 per person discount applies for customers who have had their flights cancelled and decide to amend their booking to any available Thomson or First Choice holiday on sale departing in the same season as their current holiday.
In addition to the latest changes to our flying programme, all outbound flights to Sharm el-Sheikh with Thomson Airways remain cancelled up to and including 28th September 2016. We will of course make our customers aware in the event of any further changes.
Over the next 12 months, specialist scuba holiday company Dive Worldwide will be supporting Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation with donations collected from client bookings to any one of its stunning dive destinations around the world. The independently-owned operator expects to raise £3000 for the UK charity.
Manager at Dive Worldwide, Phil North, said: “We’re especially excited to work with Bite-Back and support its intelligent, creative and results-driven campaigns to end the UK trade in shark products and prompt a change in attitudes to the ocean’s most maligned inhabitant.”
Bite-Back is running campaigns to hold the media to account on the way it reports shark news along with a brand new nationwide education programme. Last year the charity was credited for spearheading a UK ban on the import and export of shark fins.

To launch the fundraising initiative, Phil North presented Graham Buckingham with a cheque for £1,000.
