Limited space available on Patrick Shier’s Red Sea Underwater Photography workshop with Oonasdivers
There is now only limited space available on Patrick Shier’s Red Sea Underwater Photography workshop which has been organised by UK-based tour operator Oonasdivers.
Patrick Shier is an experienced diver who is a regular contributor to both UK and international SCUBA diving magazines. He is also the author of the UK Dive Guide, which promotes diving in the UK and encourages newly qualified divers to discover the delights of diving in UK waters.
Patrick’s passion for the marine environment is not limited to the UK; he has dived, and photographed, many superb dive sites around the world including Samoa, Grenada, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Malta and, of course, the Red Sea.
Patrick uses a compact camera when he dives and he has become an expert at capturing beautiful images of the underwater world, some of which have appeared on the covers of several dive magazines and Air Malta’s inflight magazine Skylife. Patrick was also part of the camera team that filmed the underwater scenes for the recent Status Quo feature film Bula Quo.
A sample of his best work will soon be available to view online.
Patrick will be offering photography workshops for compact camera users at Red Sea Diving Safari’s eco-villages Marsa Shagra and Marsa Nakari. At these workshops he will be sharing his experience on how to get the best from a compact camera, equipping divers with the skills needed to graduate from being “point, shoot and hope for the best” users, to becoming competent underwater photographers.
Marsa Nakari benefits from an extensive and diverse house reef with hard and soft corals of offshore quality. Guests say these villages are the best value and offer the best all-round diving experience you will find in the Red Sea.
Marsa Nakari is the smaller and more remote alternative to Marsa Shagra and is suitable for all levels of qualification from non divers to instructors – there really is something for everyone. For further information about Marsa Nakari, click here.
Next Workshop:
27 August – 3 September
Price:
£995
Includes flights from Gatwick, transfers, 7 nights full board in a tent, 5 days diving and Photography course with Patrick Shier.
Accommodation upgrades may be available. If required an extra days diving can be added for £35.

Dive Worldwide Announces Bite-Back as its Charity of the Year
Over the next 12 months, specialist scuba holiday company Dive Worldwide will be supporting Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation with donations collected from client bookings to any one of its stunning dive destinations around the world. The independently-owned operator expects to raise £3000 for the UK charity.
Manager at Dive Worldwide, Phil North, said: “We’re especially excited to work with Bite-Back and support its intelligent, creative and results-driven campaigns to end the UK trade in shark products and prompt a change in attitudes to the ocean’s most maligned inhabitant.”
Bite-Back is running campaigns to hold the media to account on the way it reports shark news along with a brand new nationwide education programme. Last year the charity was credited for spearheading a UK ban on the import and export of shark fins.
Campaign director at Bite-Back, Graham Buckingham, said: “We’re enormously grateful to Dive Worldwide for choosing to support Bite-Back. The company’s commitment to conservation helps set it apart from other tour operators and we’re certain its clients admire and respect that policy. For us, the affiliation is huge and helps us look to the future with confidence we can deliver against key conservation programmes.”
To launch the fundraising initiative, Phil North presented Graham Buckingham with a cheque for £1,000.
Visit Dive Worldwide to discover its diverse range of international scuba adventures and visit Bite-Back to learn more about the charity’s campaigns.
