BSAC welcomes new Chairman
BSAC has welcomed its new Chairman, Eugene Farrell, following the results of the 2014 Council Elections.
Outgoing Chair Clare Peddie formally handed over the helm of BSAC to Eugene at the 60th Annual General Meeting held on Saturday (10th May).
Previously the Club’s Vice-Chairman, Eugene has been a member of BSAC for 28 years, and has been actively involved as a Council member since 2007.
Geoff Hide and Ben Panter have also been voted in as two new Council members, while Alex Warzynski takes up the post of Vice Chairman.
Speaking at the AGM, Clare, who has served as BSAC Chair for two full terms and was previously the National Diving Officer, said she had relished her time as the Chair of Britain’s biggest diving club.
“I’ve always felt that I owed BSAC much more than I can ever repay – I have met some amazing people and had the most extraordinary experiences and it’s been a privilege to be Chair for the last six years. I’m proud of what we have achieved during this time and know that, with Eugene Farrell, the Club is in very safe hands.”
BSAC’s 60th AGM was certainly a day of old and new faces, buoyed up by the news that the Club also now has a new President, HRH The Duke of Cambridge.
Thanking Clare for her significant contribution, incoming BSAC Chairman Eugene Farrell said he was delighted to be able to take over the role.
“BSAC diving is as relevant now as it was 60 years ago and there are certainly exciting times ahead for BSAC. I’m delighted to welcome HRH The Duke of Cambridge as our new President and I’m honoured to be BSAC’s new Chairman.”
