Introducing the Liberty Light: The CCR Liberty’s lighter and more manoeuvrable counterpart
Divesoft, the Czech diving company, has become a household name for its CCR Liberty rebreather. But what about divers who are looking for a lighter, more compact experience? Their latest lightweight creation, the Liberty Light, has got divers talking. It’s new to the market and brings an array of exciting features and accessories.
Introducing the Liberty Light
The new Liberty Light rebreather is Divesoft’s fresh take on an old classic. They took everything great about the CCR Liberty and turned it into a lightweight machine weighing a miraculous 10kg (22 lb) less than its predecessor! Any diver worth their salt knows that less weight means more maneuverability and longevity in the water, and not to mention the transportation benefits; the dry Liberty Light, with 2 L steel cylinders, comes in at only 22.30 kg (49.10 lb)!
Let’s talk about features. The Liberty Light is made from quality robust materials including carbon plating. A bungee attachment, allowing for side mounting bailout cylinders for proper streamlining, is also part of the package, as are detachable counterlungs. Undoubtedly, comfort is also very important so the Liberty Light comes equipped with a harness and soft components which provide greater comfort when diving with minimal-exposure protection.
Tried and Tested by Professional Divers
A few celebrated divers have already had the opportunity to test out the Liberty Light. Their reactions were unanimous. Beatrice Rivoira stated, to no surprise, that the new unit is “super light” as well as “easy to assemble and travel with”. She was also relieved that the rebreather offers “complete freedom for the movement of your head” and appreciated that the weight system works smoothly and it didn’t bother her back. And, on top of it all, “it looks really cool!” she added.
Nadir Quarta, who has achieved around 30 dives and accomplished up to 72 meters with the lighter Liberty, agreed with Beatrice. “Yes, absolutely, the Liberty Light is much smaller and lighter. It’s very easy to fit in a small bag or your luggage. The lower position of the unit allows for better mobility of the diver’s head which is beneficial for shorter divers as well. It also offers more flexibility with the tank choice since the first stages are not locked. And, with the possibility of mounting bigger tanks, it’s a great unit for deep dives too!”
Edoardo Pavia has reached a depth of 45 meters with the Liberty Light thus far; though he says depth doesn’t seem to be a factor of comfort with this new unit. Edoardo was positively surprised by the friendly setup of the rig; and that, along with its lighter weight, makes it a win-win product in his opinion. Also, despite the simple configuration and lighter weight of the unit, it’s just as comfortable as diving with the original CCR Liberty. He also found it unique that the sidemount bungees allow divers to set their bailout in a sidemount position or standard configuration.
The final verdict
For divers seeking an upgrade in their equipment in terms of a lighter, more compact unit, the Liberty Light is definitely worth trying out. With an impressive list of key features like enhanced maneuverability, ease of transport, stylish design, and built-in Divesoft technology, it’s bound to turn heads in and out of the water. Not to mention, it’s been tried and tested by noteworthy divers who’ve confirmed the new Divesoft Liberty Light to be an investment with big, and deep, returns!

DiveAlertPLUS: a Dual Function Surface / Subsurface Signalling Device
DiveAlertPLUS is a specially designed, small, lightweight pneumatic signalling device that uses quick-connect/disconnect hose couplings to become an integrated part of your power inflator.
It uses a small amount of air from your SCUBA tank to make a piercingly loud sound in air or water. It can be heard a mile away from where the diver in need is above water.
How it works
The DiveAlertPLUS uses chrome-plated brass couplings to attach to your power inflator. Squeezing the device engages the actuator valve stem causing a small amount of air to flutter a stainless steel diaphragm emitting a piercingly loud sound. The subsurface/underwater signal is produced by a percussion “buzzing” noise made by a piston hitting a stainless steel diaphragm much like a drum.
