Life Under Water Challenge: New Travel Photography Contest Celebrating Marine Biodiversity Calls for Entries

A new photography contest has launched celebrating marine biodiversity in honour of World Environment Day and World Oceans Day.

Launched by social enterprise Positive Travel – an organisation promoting and developing sustainable travel options – the Life Under Water Challenge is calling for entries of incredible marine photography, from sea life, to underwater activities, to ocean landscapes. As well as stunning photography, the contest is looking for entries with stories of efforts to conserve and nurture our oceans and marine life behind the photos.

Up for grabs in the photography contest is three incredible luxury eco-stays for three winners of the contest. The three winning entries will include a Public Favourite choice, selected by an online public vote; a Judges’ Favourite, selected by an esteemed judging panel of eco-travel activists and influencers, and a Positive Travel Favourite selected by the Positive Travel team. Both the quality of the photography and the impact of the entrants’ positive actions to help our marine biodiversity will be assessed as part of the judging process.

The winner of the Public Favourite choice will receive a fabulous two-night stay at the blissful Fontsanta Hotel Thermal Spa & Wellness, a 5-star retreat located in Southern Mallorca.

On offer for the winning Judges’ Favourite is a three-night stay at the charming Nobnocket Boutique Inn, located in the iconic Martha’s Vineyard.

The Positive Travel Favourite will be treated to an exquisite three-night stay at the luxe Chateau St Pierre de Serjac in France.

Entries for the competition are open now. Entrants can submit their photo either on the online entry form or via Instagram. If entering via Instagram entrants must use the hashtag #LifeUnderWaterChallenge and tag @inspiring.positive.travel.

Positive Travel will select a shortlist of 20 finalists from all entries submitted, which will then move on to the next stage of the judging process.

The 20 shortlisted entries will open for a public vote on the Positive Travel site.

The winners of the Public Favourite and Judges’ Favourite will be announced on 5th June in line with World Environment Day, while the winner of the Positive Travel Favourite will be announced on World Oceans Day on 8th June.

Milena Stoyanova, CEO and Founder of Positive Travel says, “We are so excited to be launching our Life Under Water Challenge and we can’t wait to see the incredible entries submitted. We have launched this contest to celebrate marine biodiversity, which links with one of our key +principles of wildlife, biodiversity and natural habitat. We are looking for entries which not only capture the beauty of our oceans, but also showcase incredible positive action to protect our marine life.”

Full contest and prize details are available here.
