Call for the UK Government to ban the importation of shark fins
Shark Guardian have announced the launch of their new campaign – Finspire Change UK
The oceans need our help, and there has never been a better time than now to launch this campaign – it is time to Finspire Change UK.
Statistics show anywhere between 63 million and 273 million sharks are killed each year for their meat and fins. The UK has supported this barbaric trade by allowing the importation of shark fin into the UK to continue.
With the UK no longer in the EU and restricted by EU laws, we are asking you to join in the push to ban the importation of shark fin into the UK. Previous efforts have not succeeded, simply because the UK was tied into EU regulations.
Please sign this petition and share it widely.
Let’s get the government to take action to protect sharks now they can no longer hide behind the EU. We need over 100,000 signatures for the government to consider it for debate in Parliament.
- Sign & share the petition across all your social media sites, with your family and friends.
- Use the Facebook banner & profile picture frame to help spread the message – you can download these for free along with posters, images & the campaign logo on our website from next week.
- Purchase one of the campaign t-shirts and post a selfie using the hashtag #bansharkfinUK – 100% of profits goes towards helping protect sharks!
- Remember to use the hashtags #finspirechangeUK and #bansharkfinUK in any social media content you post.
Shark Guardian welcome you on board the campaign and hope that you are just as excited as they are to push for this important change in the law!
