LUNA: Dive trips powered by women
Helping women all over the world dive into something new.
Luna is a dive trip organiser and community creator. It has been established for women who are seeking a new adventure in an inclusive, female-focused group. Open to experienced divers and those who haven’t dived in a while, Luna is also for those looking to dip their toes into diving for the first time.
The brainchild of divers Lucy Alfred and Ellie D’Silva, Luna brings like-minded women together, to help put down any hang-ups they might have which stop them from getting into the water.
“I can openly say not having [female] friends to go [diving] with puts me off as I learnt to dive with my dad… [I] have been the youngest and only female so many times,” says friend of Luna, Rhoda Sell.
With enough barriers to scuba existing already (“what about sharks?”), Lucy and Ellie didn’t want a lack of buddies, body hang-ups, or the male gaze to make it worse. To combat these very real issues, they realised that an inclusive, female-only trip provider would be the safety net many women had been searching for.
If you’d like to feel more confident, change your perspective and explore a new world, Luna will support you in a safe environment. It’s time to ditch the hesitation of getting into diving and discover everything our oceans have to offer.
UK-based, Luna is currently developing partnerships with dive centres and resorts in Europe and Asia, with their first trip now taking bookings for Menorca with S’Algar Diving in September 2019. Expansion into Central and South America is in their sights as they grow.
Founder Lucy says: “We are always on the look-out for dive centres that are interested in supporting our mission statement: to get more women into, or returning to diving.”
