Cocos Island is one of the remotest, and best, diving locations in the world, and Dive Worldwide is offering an exclusive saving this May on a liveaboard trip aboard the MV Sea Hunter.
Marooned 540km off the coast of Costa Rica, Cocos Island is consistently voted in the top ten ‘must dive’ destinations, and is one of the world’s finest locations for shark diving. Water temperature is 26 – 29C year round and most of the action is found from 18-40 metres. The biodiversity of the marine life here is mesmerising – expect white-tip reef sharks, schooling hammerheads, dolphin, mantas, marbled rays, sailfish, large schools of pelagic fish, turtles and the occasional whale shark. The water is home to at least 27 endemic fish species and the small rocky outcrop of land mass is home to numerous bird and plant species, some of which are endemic.
The MV Sea Hunter is a modern, dedicated dive cruiser specifically built for long-range dive expeditions. The custom built boat is completely air-conditioned with modern facilities featuring ten en-suite cabins accommodating a total of 20 passengers (six double and two triple occupancy). Photographers are well catered for and the study provides a quiet area to edit images and videos during your trip. A superbly comfortable and spacious vessel with everything a serious diver could wish for, it is a rare hybrid that combines the large working platform and powerful machinery of a functional work boat, with the comfortable and functional interior of a modern luxury yacht.
Up to four dives operate daily, all from the custom built skiffs. Due to the remoteness and difficulty of some sites, divers are required to be deep and night diver trained with a minimum of 25 hours of logged dives.
