Late Deal: Book a Shark Week diving adventure in South Africa with Dive Worldwide
Be sure not to miss the opportunity to experience some of the best shark diving experiences in the world along the KwaZulu-Natal coast of South Africa and at Ponta do Ouro in Mozambique.
The aim of this Shark Week adventure is to see as many different species of shark as possible – ragged tooth, oceanic black-tip, bull, hammerhead, guitar, white-tip and tiger sharks all frequent the waters around Aliwal Shoal. As well as observing the sharks, learn how to identify different species, understand their behaviour and find out how sharks interpret divers behaviour in return. There is an abundance of marine life in this area and, although the focus is on sharks, expect to see a huge variety of other species including whales, dolphin, turtles, mantas, devil rays, eagle rays, eels, game fish and plenty of reef fish. Conditions can be challenging and this itinerary is suitable for experienced divers.
Guests begin the trip with a stay at ScubaAddicts dive lodge, located south of Durban in the diving town of Umkomaas. This purpose built dive lodge overlooks the beach and Aliwal Shoal, and is the perfect base for shark diving.
The on-site dive centre caters for all guests at the lodge. Dive packages are designed to ensure guests experience the best diving South Africa has to offer and operate like a liveaboard, whereby all divers arrive on the same day. Fully guided by the dive team with many years of local experience, it is here that people come mainly to encounter sharks on the reefs between Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks. The dive sites are up to 30 minutes away and boats are launched through the surf either from the beach or the river mouth, depending on the tide. The area is notorious for shark encounters, and it is guaranteed that visitors will see a shark of some sort within ten metres on their diving days.
Transfer up the coast to the next lodge in Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique where guests can dive on the reefs of Ponta do Ouro, Ponta Malongane and Ponta Mamoli. Expect bull and hammerhead shark encounters and plenty more marine life on these healthy reefs.
Special Offer Price on departure 23 November: from £1,695 based on 2 sharing (SAVING up to £300 pp), including return flights from the UK, transfers, 9 nights, BB accommodation, 14 dives, tanks and weights with Dive Worldwide.

Dive Worldwide Announces Bite-Back as its Charity of the Year
Over the next 12 months, specialist scuba holiday company Dive Worldwide will be supporting Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation with donations collected from client bookings to any one of its stunning dive destinations around the world. The independently-owned operator expects to raise £3000 for the UK charity.
Manager at Dive Worldwide, Phil North, said: “We’re especially excited to work with Bite-Back and support its intelligent, creative and results-driven campaigns to end the UK trade in shark products and prompt a change in attitudes to the ocean’s most maligned inhabitant.”
Bite-Back is running campaigns to hold the media to account on the way it reports shark news along with a brand new nationwide education programme. Last year the charity was credited for spearheading a UK ban on the import and export of shark fins.
Campaign director at Bite-Back, Graham Buckingham, said: “We’re enormously grateful to Dive Worldwide for choosing to support Bite-Back. The company’s commitment to conservation helps set it apart from other tour operators and we’re certain its clients admire and respect that policy. For us, the affiliation is huge and helps us look to the future with confidence we can deliver against key conservation programmes.”
To launch the fundraising initiative, Phil North presented Graham Buckingham with a cheque for £1,000.
Visit Dive Worldwide to discover its diverse range of international scuba adventures and visit Bite-Back to learn more about the charity’s campaigns.
