Dive Into the Bahamas
Those who were interested in finding out more about the diving that the islands of the Bahamas have to offer were treated to a very special evening last Thursday (25th May) in London. The event, which was hosted by the Bahamas Tourist Office at the Bahamas High Commission in Mayfair, featured none other than Scubaverse.com’s underwater photography editors Nick and Caroline Robertson-Brown, who were there to share their amazing underwater experiences and show their stunning, award-winning images from their own Bahamas adventures.
The Frogfish Photography duo spoke about their experiences of diving with the many different species of sharks that can be found in the Bahamas, exploring shipwrecks and snorkeling with the swimming pigs of the Exumas. Nick and Caroline also took along their latest books, World’s Best Wildlife Dives and Deadly Oceans, which both include chapters and images from the underwater world of the Bahamas.
Nick and Caroline are fantastic speakers, a skill they have no doubt honed from years of speaking at dive clubs up and down the country (seriously – if you haven’t booked them for one of your club nights yet, you really need to). Their love of diving in the Bahamas was palpable, which created a real buzz on the night with the divers, underwater photographers and those from the dive media who were in attendance.
In fact it was a miracle that Nick and Caroline made it to the event at all; the previous evening, Caroline had misjudged the final few steps of her staircase, which resulted in the two of them having to spend the hours of 02:00 – 05:00 AM in casualty. Luckily, a suspected broken ankle in fact turned out to be a (still very painful) sprained ankle – but despite having a foot the size of a watermelon, Caroline managed to make the trip from Manchester to London, and her and Nick put on one hell of a show. It certainly inspired this journalist to want to ‘Dive Into the Bahamas’, that’s for sure.
