BSAC welcomes four new National Instructors
Four new BSAC National Instructors (clockwise from top left) Dai Atkins, Rob Sewell, Philip Johnston and Simon Child have been welcomed to the National Instructor (NI) ranks, passing the grade for the highest BSAC Instructor qualification.
BSAC’s National Instructor exam assesses candidates’ instructional skills over four days and 23 separate component elements.
This year’s assessment took place in Plymouth (5-9 August) where Dai Atkins from Swansea Alumni SAC Dai (who is also a dual member of Swansea University SAC and Cardigan SAC), Simon Child from Imperial College SAC, Philip Johnston from Sovereign Dive Club and Rob Sewell from Thistle Divers were put through their NI paces.
BSAC’s National Diving Officer, Sophie Heptonstall, congratulated this year’s successful candidates:
“I’d like to congratulate our four new National Instructors who passed this year’s exam. 2016 really was four days of fun in the sun as the weather was much better than previous years. They worked incredibly hard and dealt with some boat technical difficulties.”
The new NIs look forward to ensuring the safety and the quality of all of the training offered though BSAC’s extensive instructor base. All NIs are truly important to BSAC; they are the ones who bring forward new courses and adapt to technical developments in the sport.
