BSAC’s 2013 Branch Volunteers of the Year announced
The results of the Suunto Branch Volunteer of the Year 2013 have been announced, with six BSAC branch members scooping a top award.
Designed to reward BSAC branch members for their significant contribution to their club, to diving and to BSAC, the Suunto Branch Volunteer of the Year 2013 had extra significance, as the Club celebrates its 60th anniversary.
With the standard of nominations high, the judging panel had a challenging task to select the final six – who each now receive a Suunto DX computer.
BSAC’s six Branch Volunteers of the Year 2013 are:
New Branch Volunteer of the Year – Angela Clewes, Chorley BSAC
Young Branch Volunteer of the Year – Lucy Fanet, Budehaven SAC
Branch Instructor of the Year – Nigel Hilburd, Rhondda SAC
Branch Event Organiser of the Year – Sandra Burgen, Bradford SAC
Long-serving Branch Volunteer of the Year – Paul Nusinov, Swansea Yacht and SAC
Branch Volunteer of the Year (general) – Dave Hoskins, Swindon BSAC
The winners will all be presented with their prize at the BSAC Diving Conference at the NEC, Birmingham on Saturday, 26th October.
In addition to the six category winners, BSAC will announce the overall Branch Volunteer of the Year 2013 at the conference, and the winner will be presented with the coveted Jonathan Crusher Award.
BSAC Chief Executive Mary Tetley praised the winners by saying “Congratulations to all our 2013 winners – in BSAC’s 60th year, they are diamond examples of the power of volunteering and reinforce just how essential all our branch volunteers are to the growth and development of BSAC today. The Suunto Branch Volunteer of the Year award is our way of acknowledging the significant contribution all our volunteers and to highlight just how essential they are to to BSAC.”
