New to Regaldive – Socorro Islands Liveaboards: Giant Mantas, Sharks, Humpbacks and Dolphins
UK-based dive holiday specialist Regaldive has announced that it has further expanded its liveaboard portfolio with the introduction of Socorro Islands, a destination renowned for its large animal encounters.
The Socorro Islands are around 250 miles south of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. This area is famous for close encounters with the giant manta ray, seven species of sharks, humpback whales, whale sharks and dolphins. The Islands have been compared to the Galapagos because of the regular big animal encounters.
Pods of wild bottlenose dolphin are encountered on a regular basis, and from January – March the islands are home to a large population of humpback whales that visit the islands to breed and calve. Divers also frequently see extremely large tuna (the world record yellowfin is from these waters), wahoo, large schools of jacks and endemic tropicals found nowhere else in the world.
Two New Socorro Islands Liveaboards
Regaldive has added two Socorro Islands Liveaboards to its programme:
- Solmar V – a 34m luxury liveaboard based in Cabo San Lucas and owned by one of the most experienced operators in Mexico. 8 night Socorro Islands trips aboard Solmar V start from £2,706 per person including twin share accommodation in a standard cabin, 3-4 dives per day, 3 meals per day, snacks, soft drinks, all port fees, tanks, weights and weight belts, fuel surcharges and national park fees. Flights are excluded but can be arranged through Regaldive.
- Nautilus Explorer – a steel hull 35m luxury long-range liveaboard custom designed for divers, this vessel provides a very smooth voyage. A water level platform aft of the dive deck provides easy entry into dive skiffs, kayaks and laser sailboat. 8 night Socorro Islands trips aboard Solmar V start from £1,747 per person including accommodation in a triple stateroom cabin (mixed gender), 4 meals per day, snacks, soft drinks, 3-4 dives a day, tanks, weights and weight belts. Flights are excluded but can be arranged through Regaldive.
