Mares/SSI invite you to attend Scuba University
Mares UK will be hosting a Scuba University seminar from SSI next week in Solihull. Running from Monday 26th – Wednesday 28th January, the event will be held at The Limes Country Lodge in Earlswood.
“Scuba University is a fantastic seminar and workshop designed to help those in the dive industry learn more about running a successful dive business,” said Richard Corner from Mares. “Most people enter the industry by learning how to teach people to dive, but there’s additional skills needed to run a successful dive centre. Scuba university is designed to fill in those blanks.”
Mares dealers and other industry experts will be in attendance to hear some great advise from one the dive industry’s pioneers. “We are very fortunate to be getting the expertise of Doug McNeese, one of the original presidents of SSI, to run this course for us,” said Richard.
The event will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm each day. Mares/SSI will provide drinks, snacks and lunch for all three days and will host a dinner on the Tuesday night. The cost to attend the event is £150 per person, which Mares say will be returned via product discount following completion of the program. Accommodation is available from Limes Country Lodge at £70 per night (B+B).

Over the next 12 months, specialist scuba holiday company Dive Worldwide will be supporting Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation with donations collected from client bookings to any one of its stunning dive destinations around the world. The independently-owned operator expects to raise £3000 for the UK charity.
Manager at Dive Worldwide, Phil North, said: “We’re especially excited to work with Bite-Back and support its intelligent, creative and results-driven campaigns to end the UK trade in shark products and prompt a change in attitudes to the ocean’s most maligned inhabitant.”
Bite-Back is running campaigns to hold the media to account on the way it reports shark news along with a brand new nationwide education programme. Last year the charity was credited for spearheading a UK ban on the import and export of shark fins.

To launch the fundraising initiative, Phil North presented Graham Buckingham with a cheque for £1,000.
