Cameras roll for BSAC Club Diving video competition

Create a video for your BSAC club and you could win £250 to spend at retailer Cameras Underwater and £500 for your club.
We all know how exciting scuba diving and snorkelling is, and by creating a club promotional video, you can share the sport (and importantly your club) with others. Video is a powerful marketing tool and could help your club recruit more members. And the good news is it can be done at little or no cost.
The judges will be looking for exciting and inspiring videos that encourage both new trainees and already trained divers into BSAC club life and the sport. The winning video will be visually appealing, fun and informative and be no longer than four minutes in length.
The competition will be judged by underwater film maker and journalist John McIntyre and BSAC Chief Exec Mary Tetley. Excited to be part of the competition, John said: “I think it’s great that BSAC is running this video competition. There are lots of amazing images to be filmed around the UK and who better to showcase British diving than the people who dive these sites regularly.”
To enter, you must upload your video to the competition section on the BSAC Facebook Page before 31st January 2015. The competition is open to all types of BSAC clubs – in the UK or overseas. See the BSAC Facebook Page for the complete rules.
BSAC will be publishing some guidance on creating your promotional video soon. In the meantime, here are BSAC’s top five tips to get you started…
- Delegate a film maker in your club to lead on the project
- Use the long lead time to acquire footage on a range of your club’s activities – training, diving, holidays, socialising etc.
- Spend time on an engaging and informative script that tells a story.
- Don’t use lots of whizzy editing techniques. Simple cuts are far better.
- Test it on friends and family before launching the final version.
