New Photo Project: Dive to be Alive!
We all know that diving puts a huge smile on our face – unlike (almost) any other – and makes us feel incredible… but Brazilian photographer Marcos Alberti’s latest photo project shows us just how much more ‘alive’ divers’ feel after being underwater.
Marcos Alberti is internationally recognized for the photography projects that went viral around the world, the Wine Project and the “O” Project, which together add up to 1 billion views around the world. Now, he returns with a new project, this time a tribute to another of his passions, diving.
In partnership with the diving school Dive For Fun and the diving operator Noronha Diver, Marcos Alberti and his team went to Fernando de Noronha to portray the expressions of divers before and after the dive.
“Before falling into the water, divers are usually quieter and more apprehensive, their heads are preoccupied with checking the equipment, following the diving plan… but, after the dive, all this feelings disappear and leads to joy and adrenaline rush, it’s a happiness that doesn’t fit inside the body! and it is precisely this change in behavior that I wanted to portray,” explains Marcos.
The project is different from anything that has been done with diving, as the focus of the project is not water or fish, but the sensation that surrounds this sport.
Jose Gustavo Torres, Zegu, owner of Dive for Fun comments:
“When Marcos came up with the idea, we thought it was very innovative and as it has a lot to do with our proposal in diving, we decided to bet on this idea. We hope that this project can attract more fans to our sport and make it even stronger and more accessible.”
The photos were taken with divers of different levels, from the most experienced with thousands of dives, to the beginners who made their first dive under the photographer’s lens.
“It doesn’t matter if you have one or ten thousand dives, you always end the dive with a smile on your face,” – says Marcos.
