Scubapro expand responsible packaging program

Published

on

Back in April 2021, Scubapro presented numerous steps in the field of sustainable packaging. Now, half a year later, the company is introducing further implementations.

In addition to the already existing plastic-free and recyclable packaging, which has become an integral part of the packaging concept, the company will change the packaging of all computers and instruments to recycled and sustainable packaging from November 2021.

Furthermore, Scubapro is not only focusing on one resource, but plans to vary between the types of materials used for packaging. The market offers innovative materials, and Scubapro will thus switch all small and large spare part bags to packaging made from innovative grass paper in the future.

This material, which is manufactured and sourced in Germany, preserves rare resources, has short transportation distances, saves water and thus ensures a smaller carbon footprint. From now on, all spare parts and small accessories (O-rings, mask straps, etc.) will be delivered in grass paper bags, which can be returned to the recycling cycle for paper and cardboard.

RESPONSIBLE PACKAGING PROGRAMME – ongoing active measures:

  • Recycled cardboard boxes or protective containers for masks that can be used sustainably for transport and storage of accessories.
  • Boots in fabric bags that can be used for transport and storage as well as a wash or shoe bag.
  • Headbands, neoprene mask straps, gloves and other accessories are delivered on recycled label cards as packaging.
  • Regulators, computers, and regulator maintenance kits are shipped in cardboard packaging without plastic.
  • Fins in recycled cardboard boxes or in mesh bags that can be used for transport and storage or as bags for marine debris when diving.

The complete elimination of plastic and the reduction of total packaging are the goals of the Scubapro Responsible Packaging program. Innovative packaging solutions for more products will be introduced soon.

Oyster Diving have recently been given exclusive access to offer scuba diving courses and fun dives at Mercers Lake, a beautiful lake near M25/Gatwick in the UK.

Oyster have just launched their own dive boat ‘The Blue Pear’ to explore various parts of the lake. Divers can glide around the underwater woodland, see lots of fish and decent visibility. Out of the water divers set up in the purpose built kitting up area, unwind in a warm shower, and off-gas in the café & licensed bar.
