Amazing new innovations at the GO Diving Show 2019

The Scubaverse team are just back from the inaugural GO Diving Show at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry it had a huge array of scuba diving equipment on display. We had a busy weekend, and so on top of manning the Scubaverse stand, giving visitors copies of Dive Travel Adventures and chatting about diving and travel destinations, I grabbed some information on some of the new kit on offer in 2019. Here is a brief round up of what I found….

Suunto

Suunto had an impressive stand at the show and the star attraction had to be the new D5 computer. This watch style computer is designed to be so clear and easy-to-use that you can just enjoy and focus on exploring the wonderful underwater world. Play with style by changing the strap to match your looks. After diving, connect wirelessly to the Suunto app to re-live and share your adventures with friends.

OCEAN REEF

OCEAN REEF had their new Snorkie Talkie on display at the show. Not only does this have the best name of a piece of snorkeling kit ever, but it also the first and only Snorkeling Communication Unit. It is an in water communication device that will let you talk to one another while snorkeling with your full face mask. Connecting quickly and easily to your Aria mask the snorkie talkie consists of a speaker that sits over one of your ears connected to a transmitter receiver on the end of the snorkel that acts like an antenna.

Nautilus

Nautilus had a huge array of diving & underwater photography equipment on the stand, but the Lungfish Rebreather caught my eye, and we will be running a review on this piece of kit very soon too. Dan was on hand to tell people about the product and was busy all weekend showing people his innovative piece rebreather.

Fourth Element

Fourth Element have added leggings to their X Core range. The X Core is their answer to the electrically heated vest or undergarment. Utiltising the body’s own heat output and retaining it, weight for weight the X-Core is their warmest undergarment yet. Pair it with an Arctic, Halo 3D or Arctic Expedition to experience warmth without batteries or wires.

Otter Drysuits

Otter had their new Atlantic Drysuit on display – the new standard in exploration grade drysuits. Seamless underarm pattern for more flexibility, telescopic body with crotch strap and front entry zip for easy entry/exit of suit. This suit comes with large velcro pockets, strong internal braces and new turbo boots with ankle straps. The Atlantic also has the latest trilaminate material which makes it more comfortable to wear it before, during and after your dive.

SSI

I always like to include an eco-friendly product in my dash around the shows to find new gear and at the Go Diving show it was SSI that caught my eye with their great Mission Deep Blue gear, including drinking bottles, reusable straws, shopping bags and mesh bags for doing underwater clean-ups. The Mission Deep Blue movement supports the conservation and sustainable use of aquatic environments, including oceans, seas, coasts, and waterways and their magnificent diversity of plant and animal species.

Apeks / Aqualung

So this certainly does not count as new gear, in fact it is exactly the opposite, but it caught my eye and I wanted to share it with you. The Apeks / Aqualung stand had a huge array of diving equipment on offer, but it also had a special display of Jacques Cousteau’s CG43 reg from 1943 that it usually kept safe in a special storage facility in France. What a brilliant item to have on display at the show!

There was absolutely loads more on offer for divers at the GO Diving show, but this is what caught my eye on a quick dash around the equipment stands. I will do another post to cover the photo and video gear shortly.
