Get into Tobago’s carnival spirit with Regaldive
March is the month that the Caribbean comes alive with Carnival fever, and for those who want to bring together exotic celebrations with world class diving, then Tobago is the place to be. For divers who want peace and quiet once they’ve made the most of the above the water revelry however, then Regaldive’s new and secluded Blue Waters Inn, is tucked away in an isolated bay and guarantees a good nights’ sleep away from the noise.
Taking place on 3rd and 4th March 2014, next years’ Tobago Carnival will have an ‘Unleashing De Fever’ theme. Tobago’s capital, Scarborough, will be transformed into a vibrant zone of masquerade bands, feathered and sequined costumes, competitions, partying, dancing and singing. The Pre-Lenten celebrations undertaken on this island are on a smaller scale to Trinidad’s frenzied festivities, but embrace more of the island’s traditions – allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in the Caribbean culture.
Journeying below the water, Tobago has a well-earned reputation for enormous brain corals and thrilling drift dives. Home to a host of marine life including sharks, rays, turtles, schools of tarpon, jackfish and the occasional whale shark, as well as impressive drift dives, sheltered reefs and wrecks, Tobago offers something for all interests. For coral enthusiasts, the Kelleston Drain can be accessed by boat and is home to the largest Brain Coral colony in the Caribbean.
Prices for seven nights’ at the Blue Waters Inn in 2014 start from £974 per person, to include return flights, transfers and seven nights’ B&B accommodation, based on two people sharing. A five day dive pack costs from £237 per person, to include two boat dives per day, air tanks and weights.
