Dive into the Future with the M2 from Scubapro
Human Factor Diving™ Creates the Ultimate High-Tech Wristwatch-Style Dive Computer
There are dive computers, and there are “personal” dive computers. The differences are considerable. A dive computer is a one-size-fits-all instrument that delivers the same basic computations regardless of who’s using it. A personal dive computer provides individualised “real time” data based on your biometrics, enabling you to maximize your body’s efficiency while creating a safer and much more enjoyable diving experience.
Through the development of Human Factor Diving™, Scubapro’s ground-breaking approach to dive computer design that combines Human Factors Engineering, Biometrics and Wearable Technology, Scubapro has created a line of dive computers that are compact, easy to use and, most importantly, provide detailed, real-time, self-tracking reports on how your body is functioning, both on the surface and at depth, so you can get the most out of your dive.
The newest example of Scubapro’s Human Factor Diving™ computer design is the M2. A wristwatch-style dive computer, the M2 is targeted to both serious recreational and technical divers, and is designed to be a go-anywhere, do-anything, “intelligent” personal dive computer.
The M2 has the ability to incorporate your personal data into workload computations at the highest level. Through the use of biometrics and other technological advances, you are now able to maximize your body’s operational efficiency. You can be alerted when you’re over-exerting, enabling you to avoid potential problems before they escalate into major events.
UNIQUE FEATURES – THE M2 IN DETAIL
- An Adaptive Algorithm. Scubapro’s ZHL-8 ADT MB PMG dive computer algorithm includes your respiration/breathing rate as an indicator of workload during a dive and adjusts the decompression plan to avoid risk factors.
- Microbubble Settings. These enable the adaptive algorithm to adjust to your individual experience level, age and physical conditioning. Choosing a microbubble level between L0-L5 allows you to either take up less nitrogen or off-gas more quickly.
- Profile Dependent Intermediate Stops. This calculates intermediate stops based on how much nitrogen your body has absorbed and takes into account current dive, previous dives and breathing mixes.
- Heart Rate Monitor. Exclusive to Scubapro, by visually monitoring heart rate you can better assess your workload – real time – and promptly react to heightened stress or over-exertion. At the same time, the M2 incorporates this information into its workload calculation, adjusting the algorithm to make the dive safer. On a less critical level, measuring heart rate also lets you focus on increasing your endurance training, adding versatility to the dive experience by transforming it into a fitness sport.
- Skin Temperature Monitor. This patent-pending feature is available when using the Scubapro HRM belt. It provides yet another aspect of your physiology that can be factored into the workload algorithm. For example, extreme cold can affect a diver’s ability to off-gas nitrogen. This additional information allows the decompression calculations to be updated, improve the overall diving experience.
- Stroke Counter can be a valuable aid when exercising or lap swimming. By keeping track of strokes swimmers can also calculate distance.
- Calorie Burning can be calculated by combining heart rate and workload data. In today’s fit-conscious society, it’s hard to find anyone who would not be interested in how many calories were burned over the course of a dive.
LOADED WITH FEATURES, EASY TO USE
Offering a totally customized dive computing system, the M2 features a visually pleasing display screen, an intuitive menu and a simple circular navigation system, making it one of the most user-friendly dive computers on the market.
It looks great too. The casing is made of the highest marine-grade 316L stainless steel. The attractively machined bezel ring features engraved button labels and decorative hash marks. The black inner face ring on the display enables the mode indicators to stand out for easy reading, adding a pleasing contrast to the LCD display. The alphanumeric characters and graphics are well-ordered and easy to read. The four metal control buttons allow for easy navigation through the system’s intuitive menu. For leak-proof reliability, each button is assembled in a module using triple O-rings.
For daily topside use the M2 offers full timekeeping functions. For after-work sports and exercise, the altimeter and thermometer let you track hiking excursions into the upper elevations. The chronograph with lap memory is great for running, and it’s also possible to record your swimming time, number of swim strokes and swimming distance.
When it’s time to go diving, the M2 starts with wireless air integration that can handle multiple transmitters. The coloured light of the smart transmitter informs you and your buddy of your tank pressure (green, yellow, red and blinking red). The digital tilt-compensated compass offers easy navigation under water or on the surface. With a maximum operating depth of 394ft/120m, the M2 has four underwater modes: Scuba, Gauge, Freediving and CCR. Its UWATEC ZHL-8 Predictive Multi-Gas algorithm can accommodate three gas mixes, from 21 percent nitrox to 100 percent O2, plus it offers a fixed PPO2 CCR algorithm for closed circuit rebreather diving. The M2 comes with a full dive planner and countdown timer in Scuba mode. For data downloading, LogTRAK software for both PC and Mac is included, and there’s a LogTRAK app for use on Android phones.
The M2 (incl. an extension arm strap and a 3M foil screen protector) is available from authorised Scubapro dealers.

May the 4th be with you!
Oyster Diving have recently been given exclusive access to offer scuba diving courses and fun dives at Mercers Lake, a beautiful lake near M25/Gatwick in the UK.
Oyster have just launched their own dive boat ‘The Blue Pear’ to explore various parts of the lake. Divers can glide around the underwater woodland, see lots of fish and decent visibility. Out of the water divers set up in the purpose built kitting up area, unwind in a warm shower, and off-gas in the café & licensed bar.
To celebrate the start of the summer season, AquaSports and Oyster Diving have teamed up to host a Star Wars-themed open day on the 4th May.
Guests will be able to enjoy discounted tasters of various watersports including Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), Canoeing and Sailing. Oyster Diving will be joined by Apeks and possibly other dive manufacturers to display their latest products. Demo gear will be available for qualified divers and Oyster’s sales support team will be on hand for customers with any questions.
Divers wishing to get in the water will need to book in via Oyster Diving’s website where you can also choose to hire any equipment. Non-divers and well behaved dogs are very welcome!
As well as the watersports there will also be music, food and a licensed bar. The fun starts at 10am and finishes around 4.30pm.
