Join Project AWARE in celebrating what divers everywhere love about the ocean
Following Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Project AWARE are feeling the love – the love for our oceans – and they want to share it with you.
Share your favourite ocean pic on Instagram or Twitter and inspire others to want to protect the underwater world in the #WhatILoveAbouttheOcean campaign.
Here’s what you can do:
- Share your favourite ocean picture on Twitter or Instagram using#WhatILoveAbouttheOcean. Your image will be automatically added to the campaign photo grid.
- Don’t have a Twitter or Instagram account? Don’t worry – you can still participate by adding your photo directly to Project AWARE’s #WhatILoveAbouttheOcean grid. Don’t forget to add a caption.
- Make a donation to help protect what you love for future generations.
The ocean is an incredible resource – it gives us life, food, recreation and is home to some of the most majestic and mindblowing species on the planet. Yet only two percent of our ocean is protected with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) declaring that at least 30 percent of the world’s ocean should be protected as marine parks where fishing and mining are banned.
“In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we have been taught.”
That famous saying, by the Senegalese conservationist Baba Dioum, sums up how love plays a vital role in inspiring people to take action. Through educational outreach and their shared passion for the underwater world, Project AWARE empower the dive community to better understand the threats facing our oceans and they inspire them to take action to protect it.
Use the power of love during Project AWARE’s #WhatIloveAbouttheOcean campaign. Project AWARE will spread the love far and wide by featuring some of your best pics to inspire others to love and protect the ocean.
