Treasure Bay
This first version of this movie published in the Fall of 2019. It has had substantial revision since then. One of the main new features is I decided to man up and record the piano pieces myself. The Bosendorfer covers my sins!
This is a true story. We had been diving in southern Raja Ampat , Indonesia for a week and our ship was due to transit overnight to northern Raja Ampat for another week of diving. That night, in the open ocean, we encountered very rough seas all night long to the point that we wondered if the ship was up to this weather. Waves crashed over the port holes and deck, there were loud banging noises and water dripped into the cabins. At dawn, we found ourselves off course, anchored in an unknown bay for the ship to make repairs. A tender was damaged and parts of the ship were without power. We felt fortunate to have such a great crew to keep us safe.
There were no known dive sites but there was a small isolated village, not reachable by roads, and from the looks from the villagers, they had never seen divers. We decided to go diving and were we ever surprised!!! It was a treasure trove of macro life, unspoiled reefs and very beautiful. That is why I named it Treasure Bay.
