Join 10 scientists as they use cutting-edge technology that determines the diversity and abundance of animals in the Sea of Cortez using floating DNA. This is an incredible opportunity to join the acclaimed liveaboard Quino el Guardian, as it journeys from La Paz to La Paz from September 23 – October 5, 2018.
Six lucky divers will enjoy 3-4 dives a day with their own skiff and divemaster as well as participate in actual scientific research including: water and sediment sample collection for environmental DNA, photograph and video species in the present site, collect zooplankton samples, process filtering of water to recover DNA, survey plastics while the boat is in transit, observe larvae and zooplankton samples, participate in formal and informal talks with the researchers, and observe light traps for larvae during the evening.
