ScubaCaribe, one of the most established dive and water sports operations in the Caribbean, is excited to announce that their Whale Shark Excursion is in full swing with dozens of sightings every day. Sighting is guaranteed!*.
Known as the “gentle giants”, whale sharks can be found in the nourished Caribbean waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Contoy and Holbox between June and September. Despite their name and size, this slowly moving and gentle shark species means no harm to humans as their diet mainly consists of phytoplankton, algae and krill. In order to make this an unforgettable experience for all participants, strict rules – like not touching the animal, avoiding of noise and entering the water in small groups only – need to be followed when joining this tour, making this a good example for a peaceful co-existence between animal and human.
“Join us for a once in a lifetime experience this summer! Snorkel with the largest fish in the world! These gentle giants will leave you breathless”, encourages David Breton, Operation Manager at ScubaCaribe in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. “The Tour starts from Cancun, or from Playa del Carmen using ScubaCaribe’s own vans, guides, crew and boats, and includes transfers, multilingual guides, a light breakfast, ceviche, lunch stop near Isla Mujeres’ famous North Beach, box lunch with vegetarian options on request, water, soft drinks and beer, snorkeling gear, wetsuit, life jacket and a *sighting guarantee, which means that if you do not see any whale shark at all during the first trip, you can participate a second time, and only a dock fee will apply.”
Requirements are: a minimum age of 5 years, not recommended for pregnant women, tour is weather depending, handicapped guests join on request. Bring US$10 dock fee per person, a towel and dry clothes, swimsuit, waterproof camera, biodegradable sunscreen, dramamine if required.
