The Marine Conservation Society Needs You to Help Stop the Plastic Tide!
The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) says “The pressure is working!” In the past few weeks since they started this campaign, more and more companies and individuals have joined the unstoppable fight against single use plastics. But they’re not done yet. The MCS is now gathering signatures to continue the campaign to get even more bars, restaurants and fast food chains involved in a pledge to ditch single use plastics.
MCS are using a set of graphic images to get their message across that demonstrate the issue in a simple way – “Would you care more if it was you?”
Thanks to public pressure and increased awareness, in the last month:
- Michael Gove has suggested plastic straws could be banned post-Brexit
- The BBC has announced they will ban single-use plastics by 2020
- The Queen has banned single-use plastics on Royal estates
- Scotland has announced a plan to ban plastic straws by next year
- Asda will scrap single-use carrier bags
- Marriott, London City Airport and Eurostar will stop using plastic straws
- All Bar One, JD Wetherspoon, Costa Coffee, Pizza Express and Wagamama will phase out throwaway items
And the list goes on…!
And it’s all thanks to the work of people like you, tirelessly demanding from companies to stop this madness.
But the MCS needs your help for another push. Bars, restaurants and fast food chains are in a position to influence a large scale change in the mindset of our throwaway society.
Sign now so that they can deliver this message to all the companies who haven’t acted yet.
It is time to put a STOP to this ongoing environmental disaster. Act now. If you have signed already, please tell others.
