M/Y Scuba Scene: Official Statement

An Official Statement from the operators of the Red Sea Liveaboard M/Y Scuba Scene:

This is to confirm, that on 19 April 2022, the diving liveaboard M/Y Scuba Scene operating in the Egyptian Red Sea caught fire within an hour of leaving port, the Sindbad Marina in Hurghada.

On board were 19 guests, 3 dive guides and 14 crew members, that were evacuated on the vessel’s two speedboats and taken to the nearby New Marina. Some were carrying their cell phones, but most left M/Y Scuba Scene with only the clothes they were wearing.

One of the dive guides managed to take the passports of the 19 guests with him, before he evacuated with the crew on the second speedboat.

All other personal belongings had to be left behind and were non-salvageable, since the boat burnt out and eventually sank in the early morning hours of the 20 April 2022.
