Introducing the water inspired Xcel Diving Wetsuits from Ocean Ramsey

Published

on

Xcel launch beautiful ocean inspired wetsuits – now available in the UK.

New Thermofex 5/4/3 male (Tiger Shark) and female (Whale Shark) or Axis OS 4/3 female suits (Whale Shark). The Thermoflex is Xcel’s most popular wetsuit for divers. That’s why they decided to create a suit that combines functionality with beautiful aesthetics.

The Thermo Bamboo lining ensures that the heat given off by the body is kept in the suit so as not to limit the length of your dive. For their bamboo lining they use only bamboo and charcoal recycled fibers, which not only means that the suit is at the forefront in terms of sustainability, but also warm and quick-drying at the same time.

The design of their Thermoflex LTD comes from the Water Inspired series, which they developed with marine biologist and freediver Ocean Ramsey.

Amazing Tiger Shark Pattern

Many people cringe at the very thought of encountering a Tiger shark, yet the truth is Tiger sharks are one of the most cautious and personable species in the ocean.

Due to this undeserved bad reputation, shark finning, sport fishing and the dangers of nets and longline fisheries, the Tiger shark population is now at threat with becoming endangered. It is Xcel’s hope that with this partnership they can educate and raise awareness to support this shark, which is so important to our ocean’s ecosystem.

The newest addition to the collaboration, the tiger shark pattern was created from the stripes of one of Xcel’s favorite Tiger sharks, “Curly Girl”, utilizing biomimicry (copying nature’s designs) to mimic natural camouflage and also appear more like an apex predator.  #HelpSaveSharks.

Beautiful Whale Shark Pattern

“Did you know whale sharks are now an endangered species?”

“Sadly, these gentle giants are being killed at an unsustainable rate, mainly for shark fin soup. The whale shark’s beautiful pattern and great size – they are the largest shark species – makes them a coveted target of the shark fin soup industry. Truly tragic, since these giant filter feeders are one of the most peaceful, docile, and, in my opinion, most beautiful shark species. Their killing is also wrongheaded: The global economic value of a live whale shark far outweighs the value of its fins in the shark fin soup trade. Eco-tourism is sustainable and has multi-level benefits to local economies and the environment. Please help support responsible eco-tourism that supports research and responsible boating through their known aggregation sites. Mahalo (thank you) for purchasing this suit and becoming a voice for these voiceless, beautiful giants of the sea.” – Ocean Ramsey
