Introducing the Nauticam NA-R3 for the Canon EOS R3

Published

on

The Canon EOS R3 is one of the most exciting camera releases of the year in the underwater imaging world along with the Sony A1 and Nikon Z9.  All three cameras represent the pinnacle of each manufacturer’s technological developments distilled into a pro-level hybrid-shooting mirrorless body.

Nauticam has continuously supported both the Canon pro-level DSLR lineup as well as the growing full-frame RF-mount mirrorless cameras with innovative underwater housings and the new NA-R3 is the combination of all those technologies.  Blending elements of our 1D series housings with those for the R series, the NA-R3 will be the most capable housing for the R3 available.

Nauticam engineers design each housing to insure that controls are placed where they are needed most and within easy reach of a natural hand position.  Dual thumb levers at each handle compliment the large control wheels and recessed levers to make sure you don’t miss a shot looking for the right dial or button.  The NA-R3 offers even greater control with the addition of a shoulder dial on the right side to access the customizable control wheel of the EOS R3.

The NA-R3 features the M24 bulkhead to support both optional HDMI 2.0 and Surface Control over Ethernet via supported Nauticam accessories.  Using an external monitor/recorder or other mounted accessories is even easier with the additional M10 threaded mount and 3 x 1/4″-20 threaded mounts on the top of the housing.

Built around the extensive Nauticam N120 RF-Mount Port System, the NA-R3 also has access to our lineup of Premium Professional Optics that can deliver an even greater level of image quality and expanded creative options. When used with the Canon RF 14-35 F/4 IL USM lens, the WACP-2 creates a stunning 140º field-of-view while maintaining an incredibly natural looking image and excellent corner sharpness.  The SMC-1 delivers 2.3x macro magnification to the RF 100mm macro lens while the SMC-2 delivers 3.3x.

For this week’s competition, we’ve teamed up with underwater photographer David Morgan to give away one of his Beneath Cornish Waters 2022 Wall Calendar as a prize!

The 2022 A3 wall calendar ‘Beneath Cornish Waters’ from David Morgan BA (Hons) is now available. With 13 superb full colour prints featuring the diverse marine life found underwater at the most southern part of the UK, encountered whilst diving there in the last twelve months. With a wide range of subjects including a colourful nudibranch just a couple of centimetres long, a graceful Blue shark at nearly two meters in length and others that you may have rarely come across before.

Professionally printed on high quality heavyweight Brampton Artist Board Paper and ring bound ready to hang, it’ll brighten up a wall and provide a source of interest, especially with the brief descriptions accompanying each subject.

To be in with a chance of winning this awesome prize, all you have to do is answer the following question:

In the introduction to our recent ‘Dive Into Africa’ post which was launched on both www.scubaverse.com and www.africadiveadventures.com (and which you can read here), it states that the African continent offers a huge diversity of diving due to it being bordered by the Indian Ocean in the East and Southeast, the Red Sea in the Northeast, the Mediterranean in the North and the Atlantic Ocean in the West and Southwest. But how many countries in Africa have a coastline?

Is it:

  • A) 18
  • B) 28

Scuba Show Expo returns to Long Beach in-person May 14–15 2022

Published

on

After an extended safety stop, Scuba Show returns in-person to the Long Beach Convention Center (LBCC) May 14 – 15, 2022.

Now in its 35th year, Scuba Show is the USA’s largest consumer scuba diving expo. We like to call it the best gathering of divers above sea level. The expo brings together thousands of attendees and hundreds of companies from across the scuba diving spectrum for a weekend showcasing all of the sport’s possibilities under one roof. Our goal at the Scuba Show is to create an environment that energizes attendees’ passion for scuba diving, fosters real connections and sends them home to reconnect with their local dive communities.

The in-person Scuba Show was canceled in 2020 and again in 2021 due to COVID and local and federal restrictions. The state of California fully reopened last summer and the LBCC has been hosting large events since August of 2021.

In lieu of the in-person event the last two years, Scuba Show brought a virtual version of the expo to attendees. This virtual element — which allowed attendees to access all exhibitors, show specials, new products, and pre-recorded seminars — will become an integral part of the show, turning on when the live event ends, to help foster a connection with consumers well beyond the convention center doors and for months after the Show.

At the time of cancellation, 247 exhibitors had registered for the 2020 Scuba Show and the large majority are confirmed to exhibit this year. While we are still waiting to hear from a handful of exhibitors, we are now opening the application process to all of the exhibitors that had not yet registered when we canceled the Show back in 2020, and accepting applications for new companies that would like to exhibit.

If you are interested in securing a booth at Scuba Show 2022 (diving-related companies only please), or if you would like more information about exhibiting, visit www.scubashow.com or contact Mark Young at mail@scubashow.com.

The Scuba Show team is working with convention center staff and closely following local and federal health guidelines to ensure this year’s in-person event is safe and successful

We are beyond excited to welcome the dive industry back to Long Beach in May!

Why Exhibit at SCUBA Show?

The SCUBA Show is held in a world-class venue and draws attendees from the Western states and beyond. Attendees come to learn about their options – and to become your customers.

The promotion for this year’s show will exceed any in the past. SCUBA Show has been America’s largest consumer dive expo for years. We are committed to keeping this the best show produced. The SCUBA Show is must-see for attendees – that makes it a must-do for exhibitors.

Ask your industry friends about the show.

Why California?

California is the #1 state in the US for number of divers and number of dive certifications. It is a magnet for divers from surrounding states. It’s also the country’s largest market for dive equipment sales and consistently at the top for dive travel.
