DAN adds Severe Infectious Disease and Quarantine Coverage to its Enhanced Membership

Published

on

As divers venture out this summer to explore the underwater world, their excitement may be tempered by concerns about how COVID-19 could affect their travel plans. But DAN has the coverage its members need to travel boldly and confidently.

In February of this year DAN launched Enhanced Membership, which includes a higher benefit limit for medical transportation (up to $500,000), a continuing subscription to the print edition of Alert Diver magazine, and expanded travel assistance benefits, including search and rescue coverage and global security evacuation coverage. Now, Enhanced Membership also includes severe infectious disease and quarantine coverage.

If you’ve already upgraded to Enhanced Membership, the severe infectious disease and quarantine coverage is included automatically. With this coverage, members are eligible to receive the following benefits (see DAN membership handbook and policy for complete terms, conditions, and limitations):

Daily Quarantine Benefit: If your trip is delayed 48 hours or more because you are in quarantine, DAN will pay (up to the benefit limit) a per-day quarantine benefit for each day you remain in quarantine. This includes expenses incurred as a direct result of you being in quarantine, such as unused, non-refundable travel arrangements or accommodations, reasonable additional expenses (e.g., meals and phone calls) and economy transportation so you can rejoin the covered trip or return home.

Severe Infectious Disease Evacuation Benefit: If a severe infectious disease outbreak occurs while on a covered trip, and the outbreak occurs within a 15-mile radius of your location, DAN will pay (up to the benefit limit) the cost of transportation to evacuate you from your location to the nearest place of safety. Once the outbreak passes, this benefit will also pay (up to the benefit limit) for transportation and related costs so you can rejoin the covered trip or return home.

All transportation arrangements must be by the most direct and economical conveyance and route possible. DAN TravelAssist must make all arrangements and must authorize all expenses in advance.

Severe Infectious Disease Testing Benefit: If while you are on a trip a severe infectious disease outbreak occurs and testing is required, this benefit will pay (up to the benefit limit) for up to three severe infectious disease tests per covered trip. This benefit covers both antigen and PCR tests.

DAN is committed to providing the most up-to-date and relevant coverage and benefits for divers and travelers. Join, renew, or upgrade to Enhanced Membership.

We’re thrilled to announce the final addition to our new Scubaverse Underwater Photography Team: multi-award-winning underwater filmmaker and photographer Jacob Guy.

Like Shannon Moran, who we announced as one of our new underwater photography team members yesterday, Jacob represents the next generation of underwater image-makers, bringing fresh energy and a seriously impressive set of credentials to the team. A Fourth Element ambassador, teacher at The Underwater Club, and co-founder of 71%, Jacob is passionate about conservation and natural history storytelling, using his lens to inspire a deeper connection to the ocean.

Jacob has filmed and self-produced award-winning documentaries and worked as a photo and video pro in Lembeh and on liveaboards throughout Indonesia. Most recently, he was named Young Ocean Photographer of the Year, further cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting emerging talents in underwater media today.

You may already be familiar with his compelling work across social media, where he shares his ocean adventures via @JacobGuy.media.

“I’m really excited to be joining the team at Scubaverse,” said Jacob.

“And I couldn’t be happier to have him onboard,” said Scubaverse founder, Dave Alexander. “Jacob is part of a bold new wave of underwater storytellers—and I’m delighted that Scubaverse can be part of his journey as he continues to make waves in the world of diving and underwater photography.”

We can’t wait to share with you what our new underwater photography team cook up—there’s a lot of exciting stuff on the horizon, so stay tuned!
