Coming Soon: New Peli™ Air Cases, Up To 40% Lighter

Air cases

peli-products-europe-pelicase-case-logoSince 1976, the Peli™ classic Protector™ case has been the go-to protective case solution for millions of people worldwide. It has made an impact in industries ranging from military and aerospace to photography and hunting. Now, Peli goes to the next level.

At the Hannover Messe Tradeshow over the weekend, Peli announced the long awaited introduction of Peli Air cases.

PelAir_1555_PD.1These new cases have been engineered to maintain the same standard of durability, but reduce the weight of each case by up to 40 percent and offer new additional sizes to the current Peli classic or Peli Storm lines. Peli’s engineering team faced the challenge of building lightness into every facet of the design without compromising Peli’s renowned durability. By working with a team of materials scientists, Peli was able to construct cases that are the lightest protective cases on the market today.

Available in six long-form, travel-ready sizes, Peli Air cases are constructed of premium lightweight HPX2 resin, the next generation of Peli’s proprietary formula that rebounds to stress without breaking. With the busy traveller in mind, the 1535 Peli Air case (Wheeled Carry On) and the 1615 Peli Air case (Wheeled Check In) complies with current airline size regulations.* Other new models are the medium-sized 1485, 1525 and 1555, and the large-sized 1605 cases.

Additional models are currently in development with more than 20 new sizes coming over the next 18 months. Each case passes the same rigorous performance tests (impact, drop, submersion, high and low temperature) that Peli has proven during 40 years.

Peli Air cases are available with several configurations:

  • No Foam (empty)
  • Pick N Pluck™ foam – manually customizable cubed foam
  • Padded Dividers – newly redesigned with a fully-sewn tub, felt exterior and high-visibility yellow interior, making it easier to identify equipment
  • TrekPak™ – a completely new divider system with rigid, customizable panels and locking pins

PelAir_1605_Foam“The Peli brand is synonymous with protection and has set the gold-standard in the protective case market for more than 40 years,” said Lyndon Faulkner, President and CEO of Peli Products. “While using the Peli classic case design as the basis for the new range, our engineers have spent the past two years reimagining the classic case with a focus on taking out weight while maintaining the same high level of performance that customers have come to expect from Peli. The revolutionary Peli Air case design underscores Peli’s continued commitment to innovation and making a legendary product even better.”

The Peli Air Cases are backed by the company’s legendary lifetime guarantee of excellence (where applicable by law). Peli Air cases will be available through selected distributors from the end of June, 2016.

SIZE MATTERS – Fourth Element make it personal

Published

on

Recognising the difficulty of knowing if a wetsuit or swimsuit is going to fit, Fourth Element’s team bares (nearly) all to help divers of all shapes and sizes find a suit that, well, suits.

Getting the right size wetsuit is not easy. Clothing sizes are far from standard – a size 10 from one brand is not the same as a size 10 from another. This is complicated yet further by different size charts in different countries, and for many women the frustration does not end there. If you can’t try a wetsuit on it’s almost impossible to know if it is going to fit and many dive shops don’t stock the full range of women’s sizes.

65% of the UK staff at fourth element are female, and like all women, they also face the daunting question when picking new gear of “what size do I need?!” whenever they are shopping. Where fourth element gear is concerned, they were determined to make things easier and give their customers the confidence they need. They compared their own experiences with customer feedback and decided to share their measurements and handy tips along with photos showing them wearing the products.

Of course, this is not representative of all body shapes but customers can now hopefully find a body shape and size close to one they identify with. They can also take advantage of the personal descriptions of the products and get an insider’s view of how the swimwear, undersuits and wetsuits feel to wear.

“Our philosophy has always been to create performance products which fit well and look great, and we are always striving to improve,” said Lauren Williams, Senior Designer. “Our design team is predominantly female; understanding how our products are worn and perform is critical to developing them in future.”

Fourth Element’s range of women’s dive wear spans from UK6 to UK20 but even this can be confusing, so the company is moving from the numbered size system to a universal system with sizes from XXS through to XXXL, to make it easier for customers across the world to identify the size that they need.

It’s not just the swimwear and dive wear that is becoming more accessible. The new Winter 2020 range of t-shirts and hoodies diverges from the usual classic shapes, into a range more relaxed and modern with simple designs that are wearable and flattering for all body shapes.
