Is The Dive Industry Ready To Ride The Waves Of Change?
In light of recent reports on climate change, many dive business owners are wondering what the future holds for scuba diving, travel and tourism. From June 2 to June 6, 2014, the Blue Ocean Business Summit brings together 21 award-winning scientists, authors, photographers, dive travel experts, resort owners and sustainable tourism experts from 7 different countries to examine the industry, ocean health, and what concerned stakeholders can do now to make a difference.
Special guest speakers include:
- Dr. Carl Safina, host of Save the Ocean on PBS and award-winning author of Song for the Blue Ocean.
- Dr. Wallace ‘J’ Nichols, scientist and author of Blue Mind (Little, Brown & Co.)
- Shawn Heinrichs, Emmy Award winning cinematographer, photographer, and marine conservationist.
The Blue Ocean Business Summit is the brainchild of Laurie Wilson, founder of the Dive Travel Resource Group and Women Divers Hall of Fame inductee. “I created [the summit] to give like-minded people in the industry a safe place to go and ask for help in creating the dive business they want,” says Laurie. “If owners care about the future of the ocean, and their business, the goal of the summit is to focus on sustainable business practices that protect our beautiful blue planet.”
The Blue Ocean Business Summit is a free online event. For ocean people who want to know what’s going on under the radar in the diving world and get a head start on what’s to come, register at www.BlueOceanBusinessSummit.com. For those who cannot attend or want to go deeper, the Summit Resource Guide (along with replays) is available at a special pre-order rate of US $49.99 available at www.BlueOceanBusinessSummit.com.
